Shanghai Tower crowned world's second tallest skyscraper

Shanghai Tower has officially completed as the tallest building in China and the second-tallest building in the world. 

The tower was finished in late-2015 at a height of 632 meters, becoming the third building in the world to achieve the “megatall” (600-plus meters) designation. To commemorate this important milestone, Shanghai Tower has been added to the official CTBUH Current Tallest 20 poster, which presents the world’s tallest 20 buildings as recognized by the Council’s Height Criteria.

A recent report published by Chinese academics looking at the income profile of those living in some of China's wealthiest cities has found that over half of Beijing and Shanghai residents can be considered middle class.

The "social blue paper" was published by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) on December 24 and examines the current state of the Chinese economy in order to produce recommendations and guidance for policymakers.

8 Chinese universities ranked among world's best for 'employability'

 According to results from the UK-based QS World University Rankings, Tsinghua University leads eight Chinese universities in the global top 200 for employability.

The latest QS Graduate Employability Rankings were released on Thursday, with the US's Stanford University took the first spot, followed by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard University.

Tsinghua University shot into the top 10, ranked 9th. Seven other Chinese universities are among the top 200, including Peking University (15th), Fudan University (26th), and Shanghai Jiao Tong University (37th).
